Reading Programme

The Reading Programme is a programme that runs across all levels and stream. It is divided into the Lower Secondary Reading Programme and the Upper Secondary Reading Programme.

The Lower Secondary Reading Programme:

Every lower secondary class will be assigned a book to read every 5 weeks.

This programme seeks to cultivate an interest and love for reading.

The Upper Secondary Reading Programme:

Reading texts for the upper secondary reading programme is put together into a Reading Compilation Book. Each student will have to purchase this book.

Unlike the lower secondary reading programme, the upper secondary classes has 2 allocated periods to reading. During which, they will read, discuss about the topic and have class discussions on questions brought forward that will require them to think critically about the topic and issues raised.

It is designed to achieve the following objectives:
1) To cultivate an interest and love for reading
2) To expose students to a wide range of topics
that appeal to their interests
3) To expose students to various texts and text
types relevant to the national examination
3) To provide a structured platform for students to
interact with different texts and text types.
